The idea of involving students in the task of national service scheme dates back to the times of mahatma Gandhi who tried to impress upon his student audience that they should always keep before them their supreme responsibility. The scheme has been so effective due to the fact that it is a low investment and high dividend scheme that special emphasis has been laid on NSS in the national policy. The motto of NSS is “NOT ME BUT YOU”. The overall objective of the NSS as originally envisaged was service to the community while undergoing instruction in colleges. It has been felt that the primary aim of the scheme is to enable the students to upgrade their personality and experience through community service.
On 11th March, 2015, a 7-day special camp was organized on “Social and Health Awareness” at village Jagdishpura. NSS volunteers has awarded the villagers as well as the students of govt. school Jagdishpura through the speech, poetry, songs and skit.
On 20th March, 2015, the NSS Unit organized a Blood Donation Camp in collaboration with Indian Red Cross Society. Mr. K.M Pandurang (Honorable Deputy Commissioner, Kaithal), graced the occasion, and around 200 units of blood were collected over the course of the day.
